Welcome to Geilston Bay High School's 30th
Anniversary Web. The 30th anniversary web project is sponsored by E-magine as one of their Innovative Online projects. Students across all grades were offered the opportunity to take part during E&E in second term. We needed students:
Over the
3 cycles we have gathered a team of
20 students spread across grades
7-10. We have 3 teachers contributing various skills.
Most students have met face to face in E&E time
which is every Thursday afternoon for approx. one hour; several due to school
band commitments in cycle 2 or other demands met online
for part of the time. We set up an online
communication platform to enable everyone to contribute whether or not they could
meet in E&E time, one has even logged in to communicate from home. Because
the project uses skills relevant to a number of subject areas, work completed in
this project has helped many students in their other subject work. We are gathering information from past students, parents and staff, some by in
person interviews, some by phone and some from email links. Students used their
initiative to contact the Mercury, Southern Cross Television and Huon FM radio
to publicise their information quest and to locate more past school community
members. When the site is up and running it will be a work in progress as the
wealth of information within the community will be being uncovered for many
months to come. In fact the value of such a project is that it should be an
ongoing one with people able to contribute over time. Some of the group members are shown in the image from E&E time displayed below. This site is dedicated to Geilston Bay High School for its 30th Anniversary. It was made by the Developers in their E&E time, and Online.
